Since 2011 when we started as a hobby, this is what we did, just picnic tables!
Over the years, I have been able to observe and make upgrades where I saw fit in structure.
With outdoor hardware, plastic furniture feet to elevate legs above the ground (optional), additional under bracing under the attached bench seats or additional leg sets with separate benches, I have to say our picnic tables are built very well.

Solid, hand-built and built to last. We use deck torx non-rusting screws, NO nails like most commercial lumber stores. Remember we build these by order so adjustments can be made.
Standard picnic tabletops are 27.5" wide and seats are approx. 18" from the ground since most don't like to sit low to the ground like many picnic tables!
We will normally cut the corners (dog ear style) unless you would like them left square and as always the table and bench tops are routered for a nice round over edge.
Unfinished wood is ready for sanding, staining and/or painting.
Treated wood is ready for outdoors as is. Treated wood can be painted or stained but has to dry out for at least 60-90 days beforehand. See the note at the bottom of the page on treated wood.
Add a back to any bench-
When a back is added to a bench the seat width will also increase. 18"W on farm style benches and 16.5" on picnic table style benches.
2ft - $60, 3-4ft - $80, 5-6ft - $105, 7-8ft - $125, 9-10ft - $150, 11-12ft - $170
Remember we custom build so things like leg positioning can be changed.

Treated wood has been chemically treated and can withstand the weather without doing anything to it. Do not use pressure-treated wood for making cutting boards, or for any food preparation surface. Picnic tables made of pressure-treated wood have become common, and are fine to use for the purpose they were intended... to serve food on (or play cards on), not to prepare food on! Pressure treatment with waterborne preservatives does leave some moisture in the wood that may affect the penetration and drying of stains and paints. For optimal performance of paint and stain coatings, allow treated wood to dry prior to application. Typically, treated wood will dry in 2-3 months after installation. Estimating exactly how long treated lumber will take to dry is hard to predict, and will depend on the time elapsed since pressure treatment, sun exposure, local temperature and recent weather conditions. Take these factors into consideration for your specific installation and use your best judgment.
Field of Dreams!! :)
